| Video editing is the process
of re-arranging or modifying segments of video to form another
piece of video.
Video editing refers to both non-linear editing system, using
computers with video editing software and linear video editing,
using videotape.
The goals of video editing are to:
- remove unwanted footage
- isolate desired footage
- arrange desired footage in desired sequence
Linear editing - allows new video to be spliced cleaning
into an existing tape.
Non-linear editing - is computer-based. Footage is transferred
to the hard drive. Video Editing Software such as Adobe Premiere
or Avid is used to manipulate the captured footage.
High Definition video is readily edited using Apple Final
Cut Pro and related motion graphics programs.
Sequence of Video Editing
- Clips are arranged on a timeline
- Music tracks and titles are added
- Effects can be created
- The finished program is "rendered" into a finished
video.
The video may then be distributed by either DVD, web streaming,
Quicktime Movies, iPod, CD-ROM, or videotape.
